What OFTEC registration means

• Are individually trained at an OFTEC approved training centre
• Have their work inspected from time to time by an OFTEC inspector
• Are re-assessed every five years to maintain their registration
• Hold appropriate insurance to work in your home

Unlike Gas Safe, which covers gas appliances, OFTEC is the recognised body for oil heating, so an OFTEC registration means an engineer has been specifically trained and assessed on oil-fired boilers, cookers and stoves, not just heating in general. Before allowing anyone to work on your oil appliance, it's worth asking to see their OFTEC registration.
